The realisation of Orestes Hütte was dreamt up by two mountaineers. Mountaineers, not only due to being born and raised in Gressoney during the 1940's, but above all, two great Alpinists for whom the mountain is the teacher of life and towards which they have a great respect. Knowing nearly every rock of their mountain, Monte Rosa, the foot of which they chose a place to construct their refuge, in the shelter of Indren. At 2600m above sea level, a spring provides the refuge with pure, drinkable water, the Indren streams provide the drive for the hydro-electric system whilst Pyramid Vincent stands majestically in the sky behind as a picturesque backdrop. Orestes Hütte is a place of mountain tranquillity where the strong presence of nature envelops you.
